Would you buy a used car from these guys?

Salesmen sketches 01Salesmen sketches 05I drew these a few years ago as a favor for a friend -- he needed some multipurpose "clip art" figures for his website. Don't think he ever used 'em, so here they are on my blog!

No I wouldn't! a long nose tells you they're a fibber!

They look pretty honest to me... I think I'd even buy a bridge in Brooklyn from these guys! Always enjoy your character designs... was just practicing from you book this weekend.

Thanks for all the sweet comments, everybody! These were a lot of fun to draw, but they've just been sitting in a pile of doodles for a few years. Y'all made me very glad I dug 'em out and put them on the blog. ^_^

The first doodle reminded me of the Dad from Family Dog.

I'm in awe of these designs..! Woot! If I lived down there I'd make you hang out at diners and draw cartoons.

I'd purchase the car..

Sherm: I would, and I have. Actually, these wonderful sketches perfectly capture the confident, smiling, basically happy larceny of car salesmen of a generation ago. With the current economy, the current crop of lot vultures resemble a hungry pack of desperate, fevered weasels!

Beautiful work, Sherm! -- Mykal

Hans: Thanks!
Bill: a great year for designs ^_^
Chad: I'm honored!

Mykal: YOU have a great way with words -- "happy larceny" was great, but "hungry pack of desperate, fevered weasels" is my favorite! Have you seen "The Middle" sitcom with Patricia Heaton? Her crew of car salesmen are exactly as desperate as you've described. Good thing I keep my cars for so darn long.
