Another entry in the "how in the world did I miss this?" file is this ASIFA-Hollywood post about Grim Natwick's drawings from the "cartoon Moderne" era of the late 50's and early 60's. These images here are a small taste of the original post on the Asifa-Hollywood Animation Archive blog!
There's a ton of drawings to see...
...and a few links to even more on Grim Natwick.

Wow, so cool to see this side of Grim Natwick. Who knew?? Especially because his work with Fleischer was so definitive and groundbreaking. Always nice to see people mix things up.
Hey Bob...I was lucky enough to see the Grim Natwick exhibit at the ASIFA Hollywood Animation Archive last year. It was amazing to see how his style kept changing from the 1920s through the 1970s. It's hard to say whether he was a reflection of 20th-century animation or if 20th-century animation is a reflection of Grim Natwick. If you have some time to spend on some very inspirational material, I recommend checking out the virtual Grim Natwick exhibit that starts on:

Gotta love that Natwick! I haven't seen any of this kind of work from him but it doesn't surprise me too much. That guy could draw. Thanks for sharing the finds Sherm!
