My friend Eddie Trigueros brought a stack
of old Terrytoons comics into the studio lately,
and he was kind enough to let me scan
this delicious Heckle and Jeckle romp
from the pages of a Mighty Mouse comic book.

I love the way this whole story is set up in just a few
breakneck-paced panels! From here the story goes off on
half-a-dozen ridiculous comical tangents,
as you can see from some of the selected panels below...
As if knife-wielding cartoon Indians weren't enough...ALIENS!

This whole comic feels like total stream-of-consciousness stupidity.
Something that's sorely missing from comics these days...
Our boys had a great get-rich-quick scheme, but like all great comedy plans, this one has a big hole in it...

Do you know what year this is from? I have a ton of Heckle and Jeckles from the early 50s by Tyer, but this one is in a much rounder style.
By the way, are you still working with Aaron Springer? Do you know any way I could send him a fan letter?

Hi, Charlie...I should have written that stuff down, but I forgot! I think this was from 1957, and I believe it was a back-up story from Mighty Mouse comics. I'm not working with Aaron right now, but I think he's working on new SpongeBob storyboards at Nickelodeon. If I find out how to reach him, I'll let you know ^_^
Love it, Love it, Love it!!! Seeing Heckle and Jeckle makes me smile. I have their #1 issue in comicbooks! I'm a huge fan of the Magpies!!! I love the rounder style moreso than the real early works...but love them all!!!

friends like Eddie and thanks to The Animation Archive, I'm getting exposed to all this cool old stuff. And the comics are all available at online comics shops and ebay at reasonable prices! Say HI to your "Lemming" for me! --Sherm
One thing to point out Sherm, They (funny comics)were always considered as "second class" by the printing industry back in the day and such the time and care was never put forth in their printing. This is quite evident by the poor, often abysmal registration of colors in the books and often "dropped" colors as well.
Here's the irony for me though,...Now I think it adds to the charm of these books and it "adds" character to the already priceless art!!!! Go figure!!
"TOGO" says hi! (The Lemming) STill not convinced he's good enough for prime time as after I saw your marvelous character design book, I was intimidated by your amazingly elaborate design ability!!! Someday I'll catch up. I hope. Take care.

Heckle and Jeckle were MAGPIES a close reeletive to crows I think they were created by TERRYTOONS the same ones who came out with MIGHTY MOUSE
I'm looking for a Heckle and Jeckle from 1952 or maybe early 1953 that had a lead story called "How to be Beautiful". I remember how funny it was and would like to recover a copy.
