The Adventures of Bob Hope 20 mermaids underwater

Cartoonist Owen Fitzgerald drew a whole run of great Bob Hope comics in the early 1950's. In issue #20 from April/May of 1953, Bob takes an undersea adventure where he finds all kinds of buried treasure!

That Owen Fitzgerald sure could draw.
I meet him at DIC. Kent Butterworth had him doing freelance boards on What A Mess.

Sherm,..this is wonderful! The colors on the cover take me back to a feeling of "Old Florida 50's Design" with pinks, sea greens and blues. I just love the colors and the art is wonderful!!!!

Great stuff Sherm!

I was wondering if you can post some of the notes made about storyboarding while watching Clampett's "Tortoise Wins by a Hare" at the Archive

They were very insightful, good theories.

Beautiful artwork! If only they still did comics like this. Of course I'm not sure if a Lindsey Lohan comic would be so innocent. The art is so fluid and they even use thick and thin inking. Amazing! Thank you very much for letting go back in time to see this and for taking the time to scan it all!
