Another gem of a funny animal comic. What a weird story. The characters are pretty fun, too.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome. A Great mix of playful, innocent cartooning drawings, humor and some historical social commentary.
ReplyDeleteHi Bob...all that PLUS the drawings are fantastic!
ReplyDelete@Frank...I love that mix of "cute and happy" along with "paranoid and creepy". Glad you liked it!
Wow, what awesome panel/page designs, and a cool cartoony drawing style! Do you know who the illustrator is? I can't wait to try out the safety match experiment... they'd never dream of putting fun stuff like that in a kid's funny book today.
ReplyDeleteHi FrankenBarry...I’m not sure who drew this Piggsy comic, but it reminds me a lot of Super Rabbit!
ReplyDeleteHi

Hi Rita .. thanks for saying such sweet things... I really appreciate it ^_^ I'm really glad the tutorials are helping!
ReplyDelete`the lettering sure looks a lot like Al Fago's work... but the art work is a lot better than his usual stuff, rivalng Harvey Kurtzman's vitality.
ReplyDeletePiggsy is by Milt Stein. the cover is by Al Fago.
ReplyDeleteThe dude that purchases the rock left me in stitches. I felt like I was sucked into a Sid and Marty Kroft world just by looking at him.
ReplyDeleteThis stuff is so cool and is obviously so absent from today's boring comics.
I have thought about starting up a publishing company that only carries funny animal comics and just clean comedic action stuff. Someone needs to push this stuff back out there again.
Just kicking it around a little....thinking out loud.
Hey Todd -- I'm so glad you found this post! I love sharing this funky old stuff, and you're exactly the kind of person I'm posting it for :)
